Join the Energy Co-op of Vermont for a Co-op Solar Open House

Thursday, February 7th, 2013

We just launched our Co-op Solar program for 2013 with Senator Bernie Sanders and political representatives joining us for the kick off.  WPTZ Channel 5 covered the press conference and ran a great feature story on the Co-op and the program.  See the video here!

Now we’re spreading the word about Co-op Solar across Northwestern and Central Vermont.  We’ll be hosting a Solar Open House at Sunward Systems, the supplier of our Co-op Solar systems, on Monday, February 11th from 4:30 – 6:30 pm and you’re invited!

We worked with Sunward for the 2012 Co-op Solar program and we’re proud to be partnering with them once again in 2013!  They assemble the solar hot water systems for Co-op Solar right here in Vermont, helping to create green jobs for the local economy.  And they just moved into to a great new office space in Shelburne.  Join us this Monday to celebrate the new factory and learn how Sunward and the Energy Co-op of Vermont make solar simple through the Co-op Solar program!

The new offices are located at 6221 Shelburne Rd, Suite 210, in the new complex directly behind the Fiddlehead Brewery and Folino’s Pizza.  We’ll enjoy some food and beverages, tour the facility, and of course, check out some solar hot water heaters and talk about the Co-op Solar program.  You’ll even be able to sign up for your free solar site assessment!  Please E-Mail your RSVP so we know about how many pizzas to get!!

And if you can’t join us but want to learn more, hop over to Co-op Solar where there’s lots of info on the program and a form to sign sign up for your free assessment

Co-op Solar is Coming Back!

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

We launched Co-op Solar last spring.

By the end of June, more than 500 Co-op members and Chittenden County residents had signed up to get more information on solar hot water heaters for their homes.

By the end of July, 41 people decided to purchase a Sunward solar hot water heater.  Installations began in early summer and were finished up by late fall.

Each year, these solar hot water heaters will displace about 3,000 gallons of heating oil or propane.

Here’s some more good news.  Our 2013 Co-op Solar program will get underway in just a few weeks.  Look for:

  • expanded service area
  • wireless water temperature gages
  • same low prices, attractive financing

Stay tuned for our Co-op Solar 2013 launch, coming in a few weeks.

Is your Vermont Home Suitable for Solar Hot Water? Free DIY Assessment.

Monday, April 16th, 2012

You have a nice open yard at your home. And your roof mostly faces to the south – and it’s not shaded – at least for a good part of the day.

You think your home may work for solar hot water – either a rooftop or a ground-mount system – but you’re not sure. We can help you learn more with Sunward’s simple Solar OptimizerTM tool – and it’s free!

The Solar OptimizerTM comes with a compass, a paper latitude template that covers anywhere in Vermont, and a detailed users manual.  The users manual guides you through five steps:

  •  Checking that you have room for the solar storage tank and heat exchanger
  • Choosing a location for your solar hot water panels
  • Setting up the Solar OptimizerTM
  • Assessing your site for solar
  • Planning a route between your solar panels and the heat exchanger

The users manual explains everything in an easy to follow way, and you’ll be done with your solar site assessment in less than an hour. Then you can go to Co-op Solar to sign-up for more information and to schedule a home visit to get your questions answered and to go over our attractive financing options.

With the Co-op Solar volume discount, federal and state incentives, and our attractive $0 down, low monthly payment financing, your Co-op Solar system starts saving you money right away – and helps you do your part to fight climate change.

To get your Solar OptimizerTM tool, stop in at the Energy Co-op of Vermont’s office (73 Prim Road, Colchester) weekdays between 8:00 and 4:00. We’ll have a Solar OptimizerTM waiting for you!

When you’re done, pass the Solar OptimizerTM onto someone else so they can check their home for solar, too – or bring it back to our office at your convenience.
